Before he founded Minus Red, Jim served as the Chief Creative Officer at EthnoGraphic Media. With the EGM team and a rotating band of international artists, organizations, and filmmakers, Jim wrote and directed the feature film, “End of the Spear” (2006), and several feature-length documentaries that explore some of the most evocative and complex issues of our time.
Prior to his entertainment career, Jim was a Vice President at Leo Burnett in Chicago. He then co-founded Hanon-McKendry, an ad agency focused on non-profits, as well as Compass Arts, which has since become Compass College of Cinematic Arts. His multi-disciplined background gives Jim’s work a unique style that recognizes both the differences and the kinship between theater screens and mobile screens, and it is this expertise that forms and guides the work we do now at Minus Red.
